Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated doctor with strong interests in point-of-care ultrasound and medical education to join our academic team as an Ultrasound & Medical Education Fellow.
This role combines hands-on ultrasound teaching with broader responsibilities in educational programme development, faculty support, course quality assurance, and academic content development. The successful candidate will work closely with senior faculty to support the delivery and ongoing improvement of a wide range of educational programmes in emergency medicine and point-of-care ultrasound.
The role would suit a doctor who is organised, reliable, proactive, and interested in developing expertise not only in ultrasound teaching, but also in the broader running and development of medical education programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Ultrasound Teaching & Course Delivery
- Support faculty during point-of-care ultrasound courses and practical scanning sessions
- Assist learners during hands-on ultrasound teaching
- Help prepare and maintain ultrasound equipment, simulators, and course materials
- Contribute to the smooth delivery of ultrasound teaching days and educational events
- Continue to develop personal point-of-care ultrasound expertise through supervised teaching and practice
Educational Development & Academic Content
- Assist with the development and improvement of teaching materials and educational resources
- Support the preparation and review of SBA questions, OSCE materials, presentations, and webinars
- Help maintain consistency and quality across educational programmes
- Assist with educational administration and programme organisation where required
Faculty Development & Recruitment
- Support the identification and onboarding of new teaching faculty
- Gather feedback from senior faculty regarding the performance and potential of new faculty members
- Assist with maintaining high teaching standards across programmes
- Help identify individuals with strong educational and leadership potential
Research & Organisational Projects
- Contribute to ultrasound education research projects and academic initiatives
- Assist with data collection, organisation, and project administration
- Support wider organisational and educational development projects as required
Person Specification
Essential
- Qualified doctor (UK or international)
- Strong interest in point-of-care ultrasound and medical education
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- High attention to detail
- Reliable and professional approach to work
- Willingness to contribute flexibly to a growing educational organisation
Desirable
- Experience using point-of-care ultrasound in clinical practice
- Experience in clinical teaching or medical education
- Experience developing educational materials or resources
- Experience with SBA or OSCE teaching
- Evidence of academic or research interest
- Interest in faculty development or educational leadership
